Innovative Mesh Products Take Top Honors at London Surface Design Show
The Expanded Metal Company took home top honors for "most innovative exterior surface" at The Surface Design Show, held March 4-6 in the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.
The Surface Design Show is the UK's premier trade event to focus exclusively on surface solutions in building design. In addition to serving as the meeting place for architects, specifiers and interior designers, the show presented over 100 exhibitors, informative and inspirational talks and exclusive evening events.
"We were delighted to receive the award for most innovative exterior surface at this year's show," said Andy Foster, EMC Head of Marketing, who reported 300 leads were taken over the two and a half day event.
"The exhibition we were at was a massive success, but as with any exhibition, it is now when the really hard work begins!"
In addition to an open, expansive and most eye-catching island display, the EMC exhibit featured several trade show marketing innovations including constantly changing illumination of each of EMC’s two mesh display areas, bringing the exhibit to life and demonstrating how well expanded metal reacts with different lighting effects.
Since its invention in the latter half of the 19th century, expanded metal has been used throughout the built environment in a multitude of applications, as varied as they are numerous. Now in the 21st century, this unique material is reinventing itself as not only something that strengthens and moulds, but as a dynamic and urbane material at the cutting edge of modern design.
Examples of this can be seen in projects such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, the Young Vic Theatre in London and MIMA in Middlesbrough.
