Filters that separate EMC from the rest
The Expanded Metal Company, the UK market leader in expanded metal production, has introduced an innovative new range of off-the-shelf and made-to-measure mesh air filters designed to meet the needs of a range of industry sectors, including agriculture, catering, chemicals, engineering, healthcare, HVAC, industrial processing and transport.
EMC filters are available with frames and backing meshes constructed in stainless steel, aluminium, galvanised steel and tinplate, in thicknesses ranging from 7mm to 50mm. Standard infill options include the company’s proprietary Filtafoil (R), which incorporates layers of aluminium arranged alternatively at right angles to each other. Other options include extra fine meshes, bondina, and galvanised and stainless steel. Nonstandard infill materials can also be utilised to meet specific performance needs.
Flexible and cost-effective manufacturing processes allow EMC to offer a made-to-order service. If you have a specific filtration problem, the company’s production capability and experience enable it to offer a bespoke solution. EMC made-to-order filters are easy to install and maintain, can be washed and reused, offer outstanding performance, yet their initial and lifetime costs are surprisingly low.
Tests carried out confirm Filtafoil''s ability to remove up to 96% of grease from the airstream. This is based on a 50mm panel at 2m/s air velocity. A 25mm panel will remove 94% contamination from the airstream.
Tests at the University of Birmingham have shown that a water mist droplet removal efficiency of 98-99% can be achieved at air velocities of 2m/s through a 50mm corrugated Filtafoil (R) pack.
Tests by the Department of the Environment Building Research Establishment Fire
Research Station show that Filtafoil (R) untreated would achieve Class 1 when tested to BS 476 Part 7: 1971.
