VOID PROTECTION COSTS CUT
Effective void property protection is assured with Expamet’s ExVoid, an attractive alternative to perforated metal and timber that can save over £50 on a three bedroomed semi-detached house. Viewed proportionately to housing stock of hundreds or thousands this translates to massive long-term savings, effective immediately
ExVoid is manufactured from galvanised steel into a tight expanded metal mesh that is extremely robust, fireproof and weatherproof. Its design allows for high visibility through the mesh. This allows door and window detailing to be viewed from a distance, providing an improved perception of the property whilst not compromising security.
The Expanded Metal Company offers a complete bespoke service on this product: mesh panels are supplied cut to size, saving time and improving safety on site. A consequential benefit of factory finishing is a reduction in waste material enabling cost savings to be passed on.
ExVoid panels are easily and securely fitted either into brickwork or surrounding window/door frames.

The Expanded Metal Company in Hartlepool have built their reputation on providing quality products and services over their long and esteemed history. The name Expamet is synonymous with quality and it is this quality that you can expect from ExVoid – Expanded Metal’s mesh specifically designed to target harden doors and windows on void properties. |
“We were asked by one of the UK’s largest Housing Associations to develop a product that would prove a cost effective alternative to using punched metal screens to cover the doors and windows on their empty properties” explained Expanded Metal’s Sales Development Manager Paul Bushnell. “The challenge was to create a mesh that would be strong and secure but would also allow high visibility to create a better impression of the void property”. |

They have certainly succeeded with Expamet ExVoid. The industry standard perforated metal is made by punching the holes out of steel sheets – a very wasteful process. Expanded Metal is made from a single piece of steel and is slit and formed to create a strong and tight mesh. Because there is little waste in the manufacturing process this cost reduction is reflected in the price to the customer.

“The other idea we had was to make ExVoid to the actual size the customer required “continued Paul. “Receiving the opening sizes from the Housing Association, we would make the mesh to their requirements. We were making the mesh anyway, why create more waste? The people who actually fit the product on site now don’t have to waste time and money cutting their steel to size. They now take the ExVoid off the pallet and on to the opening.” There are obvious Health and Safety issues resolved with this method as well. |
Paul reasoned “I think we now offer a perfect service for any company who fit their own product onto their empty properties. Why waste time cutting larger sheets to size? Let us make them for you with a quick turnaround and you can enjoy the cost and time savings”.
ExVoid now sits perfectly with Expanded Metal’s other products such as Securilath, Alleygates, fly screens and other Architectural and Security products. For more information on these products you can contact Paul Bushnell on 01429 851812 or paulb@exmesh.co.uk.
