Technical

Any ductile metal can be expanded. Below is a list of the more common materials that are used and their specifications, which ensure that only quality material is used to give you premium products. As well as holding a range of materials in stock we can also expand specialist materials direct from customers.

Steel Meshes

All of our steel meshes are made from a variety of grades. The most common grades are Hot Rolled, Cold Reduced, Electro Zinc and Galvanised Steel. All materials can be coated using various applications, i.e. galvanising, painting, plastic coating etc. All steel grades supplied conform to the relative quality standards. Other steel materials and non-standard meshes can also be produced to order.

Stainless Steel Meshes

The standard range of meshes are predominantly produced from Grade 1.4301 (304S15). Other grades can be supplied. The most popular alternative grades are 1.4401 (316S31), 1.4016 (430S17), 1.4541 (321S31) and 1.4845 (310S24). All material is fully annealed prior to the expanding process but further annealing and descaling can be applied after the manufacture of the product. This will aid the levellness and the ductility of the product.

Technical information is available on request. Other material grades and mesh specifications can be produced.

Incoloy DS (37% Nickel,18% Chrome)

This nickel alloy is used for a combination of high temperature and corrosion resistance applications. These properties make it ideal for use in heat treatment, carburising and chemical plants. Other nickel alloys can be offered as non-standard items.

Aluminium Meshes

All of the standard range of aluminium meshes are produced from the commercially pure Grade 1050 which is 99.5% pure aluminium. These meshes can be anodised to a standard range of colours, Natural, Gold and Black. Other colours can be supplied on request. Other coatings such as painting and plastic coating can also be offered. Other material grades and mesh specifications can be produced.

Titanium Meshes

A small range of titanium meshes are listed. These meshes are produced from ASTM B 265 Grade 1 Titanium.

Titanium has the advantage of a high strength to weight ratio. Typical applications for Titanium mesh is for the production of galvanising and anode baskets.

Copper

High electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity, corrosion resistant, malleable.

Brass

Good mechanical strength corrosion resistance and malleable.

Monel 400

A nickel-copper alloy, highly corrosive resistance to waters, salt solutions and acids of an unoxidizing nature.

Plastic

A variety of plastics can be processed into the expanded form.

Non Standard Products

All other materials which are suitably ductile can be processed into the expanded form. Copies of our standard range can be offered or unique specifications can be produced to suit your requirements.
